Hôtel**** La Bonne Etape
A family house...
Since 1911 :
Gleize, Rey, Giacomino, Andreis, Tavecchio, Colombero, Minotti,
A family tree with Mediterranean roots for families from the other side of the Alps, around the Mediterranean Sea, the civilisation of olive oil, wine and wheat.
Jean Rey, a farmer, married Gabrielle Giacomino in 1928. Farm produce, pigs, vegetables, etc… grown by Jean and lovingly processed by Gaby.
Their daughter Arlette married Pierre Gleize, who met her in 1954 when his motorbike broke down in front of the inn on his way back to his native Drôme.
Pierre Gleize began his career as a confectioner in Apt, then as a pastry chef and later as a cook in Nice. He was the son of Paul Gleize, a great pastry chef during the golden age of luxury hotels before 1914.
When his motorbike broke down :
La Bonne Etape was born (the new name of the family inn)
Arlette and Pierre’s son Jany returned to La Bonne Etape in 1981 after an extended Tour de France to learn the trade (his masters were Jo Rostang, Pierre and Jean Troisgros, Alain Chapel and Michel Guerard).
Jane Gleize, daughter of Jany, took over as head chef in 2023. After training in France and the UK: Lycée hôtelier de Sisteron, Famille Roux at the Waterside Inn, Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu, Eric Sapet la petite Maison in Cucuron, Christophe Cussac atelier Robuchon in Monaco.
Transmission, father and son, father and daughter, double meaning, a family, a House, a valiant team, to serve you.
